Sci-Five #7: You probably don’t know magnets can do this!

Magnets can attract metals and repel other magnets if 2 like poles are facing each other. But did you know that magnets can actually control heat?

  What just happened in the 2 videos above? What did the magnetic fields do? Watch the video below to find out how magnets are used to control heat that can be used for cooking food in the kitchen! Many of you might have an “Induction Cooker” at home. Ask your parents about it!

  Basically, the magnets are able to cause electricity to flow in the metal and when the electricity flows, heat is generated. The heat is then used to cook the food in the “Induction Cooker”.
